David Jenkin was born in New Zealand, and moved to Brisbane, Australia in 2007 to study at the Queensland Conservatorium with Oleg Stepanov. He completed Bachelors and Masters degrees in Brisbane, and was awarded numerous prizes for both solo and collaborative playing. He is currently employed as Accompanist and Performance Coach at Knox Grammar School on Sydney’s north shore.

David moved to London in 2013 to study Piano Accompaniment with Michael Dussek and James Baillieu at the Royal Academy of Music. While in London, he was involved in a wide variety of musical activities, ranging from Chamber Tots Children’s Music Program at Wigmore Hall, playing in the Academy’s Manson Ensemble, and giving recitals with instrumentalists and vocalists in many venues across London. David completed his studies at the Academy in June 2015 and was awarded a Master of Arts with Distinction. Since returning to Australia, David has been part of the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School, Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Art Song, and formed a new chamber music ensemble - The Taimana Ensemble.

David has had masterclasses with pianists such as Graham Johnson, Graham Fitch, Steven Savage, Anton Voigt and Gabriel Kwok. As an accompanist he has played for classes given by Maxim Vengerov, Susan Bullock, Peter Bruns, Virginie Robouillard and Sung-Won Yang and as a chamber musician has been involved in lessons with members of the Takács and Endellion Quartets.
